SUMMARY:Play It Forward- Supporting a Play-Based Emergent Curriculum Approach
DESCRIPTION:It is widely accepted in the Early Childhood Education field that children learn best through play\, yet many programs struggle with defending this practice. Understanding current research\, having skills for communicating its importance as well as the conviction to implement is key. Increasing pressure for academics to be introduced at younger and younger ages\, has many educators feeling the tension to compromise best practices. This interactive workshop will help participants discover the valuable processes and outcomes that happen when children are allowed the freedom to direct their own learning through play.  \nIn this training participants will: \n\nDefine “play”\, “play-based” and “emergent curriculum”\nObserve play (via videos and photos) and identify learning and developmental implications that emerge in this play\nExplore the hallmarks of emergent curriculum including active participation\, relationship building\, flexible and adaptable methods\, inquiry\, and play-based learning\nLeave with new ideas and skills to provide an environment that supports children’s development through play!\n\nParticipants will engage in activities\, small and large group discussions (as the Zoom format will allow) and personal reflection. There will be a good balance of active and receptive learning throughout the workshop. \nRegistration ends March 8\, 2023 \nRegistration is closed. SUMMARY:CPR/FA for Child Care Providers March 25\, 2023 (In-Person Class)
DESCRIPTION:This curriculum is used to train child care providers who are new to the field or experienced early care and education professionals who are taking the course to refresh their knowledge and keep their certification current. This training curriculum provides the eight hours of EMSA approved CPR/First Aid training required to obtain a child care license.   \nClass notes: \n\nThis course will be conducted in English\, translation is not available at this time.\nPlease plan to arrive at the office 5-10 minutes prior to the start time as this will ensure adequate time to sign in and collect necessary documents.\nDue to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic\, capacity for this  in-person training is limited. When you arrive at 4Cs office \, staff will not be checking vaccination status however\, we ask that you wear a mask as 4Cs continues to follow CDC/Alameda County face covering and social distancing protocols.\nIt is best to wear comfortable clothes/footwear to the Saturday class (sweats are a perfect option!) as we will be on the floor for a good portion of the session.\nIf you have any physical limitations that restricts your ability to get down/get up from the floor\, please notify us so that we can modify the activity for you.\n\nThank you for your interest!
