Preventative Health Practice for Child Care Providers September 12th, 2026 (In Person Class)

The curriculum is used to train child care providers who are new to the field or experienced early care and education professionals who are taking the course to update their knowledge and make sure they are up to date. This course provides 8 hours of the Preventive Health and Safety and Nutrition requirement, using curriculum and materials approved by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority, under the direction of the UCSF-California Childcare Health Program Preventive Health Training Program, Mira Liao. The course includes 1 hour of nutrition and instruction in the prevention of lead exposure, as required by California Health and Safety Code Section 1596.866. 

At this time, translators and additional guests may not join attendees at 4Cs of Alameda County’s health and safety trainings including CPR & First Aid and Preventive Health due to capacity and regulation requirements. If an attendee brings a guest or translator, they will be asked to wait in the lobby until the end of the class.  Registration will end when capacity is reached (24 participants) or on September 4th, 2026 or whichever comes first.

Due to changes in the California State Budget, the partial reimbursement for classes completed between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027, will be $50/per participant. The partial reimbursement will be issued to those programs or providers located in San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward, Castro Valley, Union City, Newark, and Fremont. Programs and Provider who are located outside of 4Cs service area will be directed to their local Resource and Referral Agency to request a reimbursement.
Certification will only be issued to participants that attend and complete all modules. Once a class reservation and payment is made, NO REFUNDS, NO RESCHEDULES, AND NO CANCELLATIONS are permitted. Classes are in high demand but are limited in size. If an emergency should arise, a client may reschedule once per year by emailing healthandsafety@4c-alameda.org within 24 hours of the reserved class.
