For over 20 years, 4Cs of Alameda County’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program has helped low to middle-income families and individuals in Alameda County. The primary focus of a VITA volunteer is to provide friendly, free, and high-quality tax services to those who need them most. Volunteers will work one-on-one with clients in person and virtually to complete their tax returns. No experience necessary! Free training provided! Also, our tax preparation service will be 100% virtual and we’ve partnered with Code for America to offer online filing via the Get Your Refund secure platform.
Volunteer Roles:
- Tax Preparers
- Greeters
- Intake Specialists
- Translators (preferably fluent in Spanish, Chinese, Punjabi, Farsi, or American Sign Language)
Training:
Volunteers must attend training sessions and volunteer for 4-5 hours per week during the tax season.
