Supporting Social Emotional Development, the Cornerstone of Child Development 0-5 yrs
December 14 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

When young children develop healthy social and emotional skills such as positive communication, self-regulation, maintaining relationships and following instructions they thrive. These skills are foundational to the development of core academic skills such as literacy, mathematics, critical thinking and most other cognitive functions. In this interactive virtual training we will take a deep dive into the meaning and value of social emotional development 0-5 years through the lens of human development theories. Learn practical strategies for both programs and parents to support strengthening these skills in young children 0-5 years, and discuss how our own social emotional skills impact the children (and families) we serve.
By the end of the training participant should be able to:
- Explain or recall one human development theory related to social emotional development 0-5 years
- Discuss how social emotional development is connected to cognitive development 0-5 years
- Identify strategies to support social emotional development in early learning programs and in the home with parents
- Assess personal social emotional skills
