For many of our kids, tablets and smartphones have become their lifeline to their friends and to the outside world. As parents we let them log on, and before we know it, screen time becomes way too much screen time, and then bad habits are formed. By implementing new practices, we equip our children with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in a world where technology plays an ever-increasing role. A “cold turkey” approach is not recommended. Instead retraining the child brain to acclimate to both “high-dopamine” activities and “low-dopamine” screen time AND non-screen activities. The goal is helping your child find a balance between the two then explaining to them why. |

Families are complex. Each family member is not just an individual, they are part of their family system. And any one member’s behavior is influenced by their family—parents as well as siblings. Even the healthiest families carry invisible patterns that shape how we love, how we live, and how we relate. Understanding family dynamics is essential to healing, growth, and lasting connection. Understanding these dynamics can provide insights into behavior, communication styles, and emotional connections within the family unit. |

Everyone makes mistakes and should be allowed grace. Even your own parents. They probably still wonder if they did everything “right,” but there isn’t a right way to do this parenting thing. Though the universal rules of child-rearing still apply, today's parents are dealing with an entirely new playing field when it comes to their children. Even compared to just 20 years ago, things like technological advances and increasingly more expensive supplies have made being a parent a very different experience, both for better and for worse. Let’s discuss and discover the ways that progressive parents parent differently from their own parents. And let’s examine some old school parenting styles that still need to be practiced. |
